Public Space.

"Skate park" in Schagen (Noord Holland).

It's a public space close to the station.
First there only was a half pipe later on it become a skate park with more ramps.
I'ts not only a skate park there is also a grassfield and a basketball court.

You'll see al kind of people there, kids who skate, kids who play basketball or soccer, youth hanging around drinking some beer and people walking their dogs.

As we enter the room, the first thing we noticed was the smell. Weboth don't smoke so it's quite a dominant stench. There's also a lotof junk around. Not just ashes, but plain litter. The only good thingwe can point out is the view on the Amstel.From the answers that we got from certain people, we learned that eventhe smokers don't like to stay long, because of the arguments that welisted before and a few extra things. Like the airconditioning that isway too noisy and the tables and chairs that all face eachothers back.It's not sure if the place has been designed to discourage smokers.If the smoking room will be redesigned, then it should be cleaner(more and bigger ashtrays, like the smoking pillars on trainstations). More space for groups to site together, better airco andperhaps a coffee-machine. There's is no desire for big changes, thesmokers will be satisfied with a few basic adaptations.
